Very nice stay
Very nice resort, big with lots to do. Beautiful grounds with grounds keepers working hard to keep everything beautiful. Food was very good, at the buffets and restaurants. Theatre entertainment was surprisingly good. Rooms were dated but bed very comfortable. Bring some mosquito repellent if your sitting outside. Beach was beautiful, although loungers were limited. Need to get up early to get one easily. Snorkelling good , turtles at north end of beach. I swam off the pier and tons of fish there. Pools okay, good entertainment. Took a trip to Tulum and a Mayan village and Cenote, highly recommend it - but bring water in a reusable bottle. It’s hot! Overall, great value for money and would go back. Enjoy!

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort - Welcome to Paradise
The Barcelo Maya Grand Resort consists of 6 resort areas with numerous beautiful pools and extraordinary beaches. The dining options are endless and there are plenty of activities to occupy your time. Staff went above and beyond! Within the Beach Accommodations area our room was clean but felt a little dated. The beds were comfortable and we were in close proximity to all amenities.

Beautiful resort with nice beaches
We stayed here in the beginning of April. It is about 2 hours from the Cancun airport. Check in was quick and smooth and staff were very helpful. We had a premium room, ground floor and could walk right out our sliding glass door to the pool. The only downside was that there was mildew growing on the walls of our room and it had a very musty smell. I know it is a very humid area but we have never experienced that before in a resort there. Mattresses are really hard as well. The room was very clean besides the musty smell. The grounds were beautiful and well cared for. The beach was really nice in front of Maya beach. Lots of great snorkelling and the wild sea turtles were a highlight. Lots of sting rays so make sure you do the stingray shuffle in the water. Food was average and the Colonial/tropical buffet was better Beach/Caribe buffet. There was nowhere to get a good taco! Overall it was an amazing fun trip for our family.

There are so many better options out there
ugh. The people that love this place are ones that haven't been anywhere else. And they will bully anyone that leaves a bad review on Facebook. It is so bizarre. Food was the worst I have ever had at a resort. Buffets and a la cartes. Only way to get something not at room temperature is the grill stations at buffet. If you think you will get something fresh by going early, you are wrong. It is yesterdays dried out food. Mexican a la carte is straight from the buffet. Chair wars in real! So many selfish entitled people here that 'reserve' chairs for hours without using. And there aren't enough chairs for anyone to use. Sad part is there is lots more space for more chairs. If you want to actually use a chair, you have to schedule your morning around getting one by 9am. Any later and you are SOL. Good points - staff are friendly and grounds and beach are beautiful. My husband and I have been to about 20 AI resorts throughout Mexico and the Caribean and this was one of the worst. Prefer almost every other chain - Grand Palladium, Iberostar, Princess, RIU and Royalton are all way better.

Beautiful resort, friendly staff but mediocre food.
We don't normally stay at all-inclusive resorts but did this time to join family for a week. The resort is huge and could be organized better, families with young children at one resort, young party animals at another resort and quiet older adults at the furthest resort. The layout was nice and landscaping was beautiful, loved the Mayan cultural influences. Rooms were comfortable. Food was only okay, meat was tough and dry, hot buffet items were not always hot. Food should have been better for the price of the resort.
