Dec 26, 2024Lovely 8 day stay in paradise
Just returned from an 8 day getaway before the Christmas 2024 holiday. The weather was great, the resort was impeccable. We loved the feel of one of the best beaches in the world...Bavaro Beach! Something about the wide white sand beach and the extremely tall palm trees. What we liked: Clean rooms and entire property; Premium Level amenities (just book Premium, you will not regret it); Pool was clean and water was crystal clear; Ala carte' dining was great with lots of variety; Outstanding Beach Front Suite views and atmosphere; More quiet Adult Only atmosphere; Beautiful friendly and gracious Dominican staff/people; The king bed and crisp linens were amazing and super comfortable and gave us good nights sleep every night; Nightly entertainment; Access to Barcelo Palace amenities next door. There was a very relaxing vibe at the pool and beach and the activities team was great. If you visit, find Arianne Tavares on the activities team and she will make sure you are included in the fun pool/beach side fun! What we didn't like: NOTHING

Dec 26, 2024Dominican is a beautiful place to stay.
Average resort. Nothing stood out, the adults side is a bit outdated but is quiet. Beach is awesome and not bothered by locals trying to sell you merchandise. Access to family side but that place is much busier.

This is like places like a retirement community no activities no music no vibe mediocre at best. Don’t waste your money. Drinks were weak. Food was so far a total waste of money.

worst resort ever!!!DO NOT GO HERE!!!!
DO NOT GO HERE!!! avoid at all costs, terrible. used to be great, but this is a 1 star resort..at best. no fresh towels when they did room service, had to go hunting for them my self, food was terrible. i have been to this resort 7 times before, and used to be great, but this place seems like its broke now, couldnt even eat the food. went home starving, even the restaurants were bad, buffet even worse. here foe christmas, and no xmas decorations, no shows on adult side, most awful experience, couldnt pay me to stay here again. AVOID THIS PLACE !!! i regret spending our vacation here, paid alot of money too, drinks were awful, WARNING...DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!

I stayed at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach- adults only side and was greatly disappointed. While the views are amazing there is much to be improved.1. The rooms need to be updated. There was mold on our showerhead that was never addressed, and everything was very outdated in our room. It was also evident that the cleaning staff never fully cleaned the room. The mirror had marks on it when we arrived, and it was never cleaned off. Also, some towels were provided to us both at the beach, but more importantly in our room they had stains that appeared to be rust all over them. 2. Having to ask multiple people for bottled water for multiple days is insane. it took 3 days to get additional bottled water. It's understandable that you all provided bottled water in the room and other water in the dining spaces, but it makes no sense that you would have to ask multiple front desk staff and wait staff for bottled water and then wait multiple days to receive it. 3.The food is terrible. We thought that it was just bad because of how late we got on the first day but no. There needs to be better quality food. we even went from the adults-only side of the resort to the other specialty dining areas and the food was still underwhelming, underseasoned, undercooked, and overall not good. 4. There should be a swim-up bar on the adults-only side. It literally makes no sense why there is one on the side of the resort with all of the children but not in the adults-only area. 5. Music or activities on the adults-only side as well. While there are some activities later at night ie. karaoke, salsa dance "parties" that was it. There was no music during the day by the pool; the only activities were the water aerobics sessions for about 30/45 minutes.
