Exactly the experience we’d hoped for!
The view from the lanai was a highlight of the entire trip for us! Well-appointed kitchen made it easy to prepare coffee and breakfast to enjoy outside. Appreciate that the facility had quiet hours- loved the serenity. Pool and hot tub were clean and beautiful.

A so an so stay at big Island
I'm not one to complain, but Hawaii has a problem: it's aging rapidly. Most hotels and other structures are 50-60 years old. The owners of these properties see no reason to invest in improvements as long as tourists continue to come and pay inflated rates. This facility is a prime example; each room is owned by a different individual. If you're fortunate, you might get a room that was remodeled 20 years ago; others are original, with just a few pieces of new furniture from the thrift store. Rooms look cheap when they're just covered with the twentieth layer of paint over old walls. We're from mainland California, and I would compare this facility to a Motel 6 to give you an idea. For those who enjoy sleeping with the sound of the ocean, this is the perfect place. I've learned that's not for me, but that's no reflection on the hotel. Undoubtedly, it's wonderful to gaze at the ocean in the morning. We were here 25 years ago and have decided not to return for another 25 years. It's a matter of what you get for your money; the value just isn't there. Best wishes to Hawaii.

Excellent stay
Overall excellent stay and location. We stayed in unit 224 which is in the wing closest to the ocean. The view was spectacular. The pool and spa were nice. Though the pool was a bit warmer than I like. Also, the condo was clean and very nice. Only nit picking issues are the bed was pretty soft - much softer than I like and the kitchen only had two small wine glasses but 8 coffee cups. Also, no cork screw (luckily we had one with us).

What a place to stay.
Everything I liked about our stay...That's it. I liked everything about Aston Kona. The staff. The location. The room. The hotel is well cared for, clean. I watched staff every morning cleaning the pool, tending the grounds, cleaning the grills. The building was quiet, no unruly parties, very relaxing. The best part, other than the amazing view, was the room. It is well put together. The staff has thought of EVERYTHING you might need for your stay. The kitchen is stocked with all manner of kitchenware. Plates, silverware, bowls. All your appliance needs. If you need it, it is provided. The view will speak for itself. Two pieces of advice...the prices are no joke. We've all heard how expensive it is. No one was exaggerating. $30 parking, $5 gas. It is not for the faint of heart. If you worry about driving at night, beware. The streets are narrow, streets lights are minimal and not bright. And there are people walking, running etc all around you. It can be nerve racking. All that said...I can not recommend Aston Kona more. It was wonderful.
