Good experience second time around
This is my second time reviewing this hotel, and I think that I am happier this time than last. First the good - it is a more modern hotel than others and the rooms are quite spacious. Front desk staff are friendly, and we got a good rate (for Hawaii standards). We had a diamond head ocean view which was just stunning. For the bad, probably only 2 things for me. My first review covers this too, but there are just not enough elevators. There is always a wait or a crowded elevator. It was very rare to make it from our floor to lobby without at least 2 stops. The second thing I will add is they really have not got the bathroom configuration right. The shower and toilet is in a very small room, with the vanity separate. There is really very little room when you get out of the shower to get changed, important when you have older kids or friends staying together. Overall I would likely stay here again.

Upgraded nicely
Worth it with the American Express benefits. Extra taxes are added on to the resort fee making them closer to $65 a day. Beach is a short walk across the street but the rental place for the beach amenities is around a block away. Get ready to ride the elevator a lot if you don’t stay in the tower attached to the parking garage and you have a car. Lei making was the best experience and was worth the stay at the hotel!!! The gentleman was very caring, shared great history/stories & embodied the Hawaiian culture.

Most pleasant stay!
Our stay at the 'Alohilani was 10/10. The views from our ocean front room were unbeatable, and we loved being just steps from the beach. Breakfast at the Longboard Club is the best hotel breakfast we've ever had. If you take advantage of the Longboard Club for evening service, Micah and Anson will take great care of you! They really made a difference in our stay with their attentive service and friendly demeanor.

Good Experience on First Impression
The Alohilani experience is good on first impression. The lobby and ground floor common areas are very nice. The check-in process and front-desk service is absolutely top-notch. We also had a positive experience with the hotel's amenities. The pool area and longboard club are phenomenal. They are thoughtfully designed, the staff was on-point, and the food was excellent. For the most part, we enjoyed our stay. However, the glaring problem is the quality of the rooms. We stayed on one of the top floors in the beach-side tower. When we checked in, our room felt damp and the air circulation seemed limited compared to other resorts we have stayed in Waikiki. The hallways were similarly humid feeling and there were several rooms with uncollected room service/food items left outside the doors. The front-desk staff kindly relocated us to a different room on a similar level. The replacement room was an improvement, but it still lacked a fresh smell and its overall cleanliness was not up-to-par given the price-point (noticeably the gaps in the carpet between the main room area and the bathroom and the shower grout). We ended up cancelling the final 2 of our 4 reserved nights to stay in a different hotel in Waikiki that was priced similarly but had significantly nicer rooms. The Alohilani has all the right "bones" but the tired rooms and the seemingly aging air circulation system (and super slow elevators) need a refresh to justify the premium price one pays to stay here. We would come back in a heartbeat if these items were addressed.

Pretty good but could be better
The Hotel was pretty average for the price that I paid. Some of the staff talked sarcastically to me at the pool. La Bettola was not as good as I thought it would be. Momosan and the Swell Bar and grill were fantastic! Infinity pool and night pool time was great. Bed was comfortable but the shower was a bit small. The Pamphlet for the hotel is not very clear on certain amenities. Talk to the staff at the front desk to clarify. The staff at the front desk were nice and helpful!
